Lord, may my words be sweet and tender, for tomorrow I may have to eat them.

Just a quick note, I've updated the sketchbook with a new work-in-progress, the results of my intial forays into Wacom tablets and Corel Painter 8. I'm happy with it, and I hope you are too.

I had an interesting anecdote to share with you all, but I can't remember what it is, so I'll have to save it until I remember it.

Day 1

Got to Tech yesterday, unloaded, stayed a night at the hotel. Moved in today, guess that makes this my first official day here. Not much to tell yet, other than I finally got my sweet Alienware online. The network name "Phoenix" was already taken, so I had to change it to "Phoenix-IV." What a pisser. My next door neighbor is a total geek, he uses "l33t" in verbal conversation and reads Megatokyo and 8BT and everything. Also was watching Adult Swim and saw an episode of FLCL (aka FuriKuri, or Fooly Cooly), barely understood a bit of it but it's the coolest anime I've seen since Bebop. It's like Excel Saga, except by Gainax and cooler. I'm picking this one up.

mood: all a-twitter

I just watched Spirited Away for the second time (the first since aquiring the DVD over a week ago), and it's still nothing short of the finest animated film I've ever seen. I was reading through some of the reviews on Amazon (you know, just because), and I was interested--and rather frightened--to learn that Daveigh Chase, the young actress who voiced the part of Chihiro in the English dub (perhaps the second finest I've ever heard behind Cowboy Bebop), also played the role of Sumara in The Ring. You know, the creepy psycho girl that exists only to cause suffering and swallows people's souls through their TVs? Yeah, kinda puts that role in a new light.

I'm trying the mood thing now just because.

I was looking about the Evanescence website since I like the keep on top of that band, when I stumbled upon news of this rather startling alliance. Nitendo, the best video company in the world, touring with Evanescence, the best band in the world? Surely there was some pact made to fight on the side of God.

The Fusion Tour site only has engagements listed through 8/30, but the tour list on the Evanescence site shows the tour extending through 9/13, culminating at Nation in DC (that would be the closest venue to me). I'm actually going to be down at Tech at that point, but I think I'll be taking the bus back home a little earlier than I first expected. I've already got three of my friends extremely interested in going, so we'll have a bash. In any case, I thought I would bring this to the attention of the like three people that read this thing. It's big and important and don't miss it.
